We are real people who want to help you to be well informed educated consumers the same as we would want if in need of a company to provide us a service.
1/18/06 ALERT:
Search the BBB by the companies URL listing. URL is the companies WEBSITE ADDRESS name (ex: www.aftlogistics.com) When you get result, search each & every company as they all are owned by the same company no matter the name, address or location.
1/15/06 ALERT:
TO VERIFY A Company has Authority, Is Honest and NOT HIDING that they are ALL THE SAME COMPANIES hiding behind A NAME CHANGE, search the FMCSA. You can do this by searching each ones MC Number, Name, or Just State. To search by name but must have the state they are located in. ( example: If looked up Able, Allen or Progressive Auto in Missouri, I would find that they are all the same company by the address listed with the FMCSA. If I wanted to just look up MC Number I would type it in and click go.)
We don't believe any company should hide behind different names to trick consumer's with unethical practices or untruths. (click on the FMCSA truck, choose option "carrier search" then click GO)
1. INSURANCE: Am I insured?
Every Transporter, Broker, Car Hauler etc…must be legally insured or bonded and licensed DOT and was insured at time Authority and Bond were Granted. This is why you should never ever be quoted a different rate due to insurance. Your vehicle is covered with the same policy limits not matter if it's a $80,000 car or an $800. The only thing you need to know if the value exceeds $150,000 it's going enclosed so that truck can cover any damages as that policy is $1,000,000 limits.
VEHICLE IS ONLY COVERED BY THE CARGO POLICY OF THE CARRIER IN WHICH VEHICLE IS PHYSICALLY ON. IF THE POLICY HAS LAPSED DUE TO NON PAYMENT OR NON RENEWAL, VEHICLE(S) IS NOT INSURED.
* A Certificate of Insurance or Policy In Hand is not proof policy is in effect or still exist. This is where a broker has the advantage for you: They can verify the policy each day for you or provide you with the information to verify on your own.
YOU ARE not the policy holder and NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DEDUCTIBLE. NEVER EVER EVER....NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS....AT ALL This is an expense carrier's unethically try to pass off on client.
2. Deposit: What is the honest truth about a deposit.
Requested for one reason: A carrier will charge a deposit to retrieve the vehicle to assure he is not wasting fuel and time on phony request or vehicle is not available after he traveled to pick it up. A reputable broker will make $25.00 of the deposit as a finder's fee from the driver.
Deposit should not be charged until transporter is en route or has your vehicle.
Deposit should always be 100% refundable without penalties or fees.
Deposit should be no more than $150 for standard rate normal move.
3. With all this information how do I know who is reputable.
